Violence is not a solution

Violence is not a solution

Great does not mean compassionate. We therefore must support political alternatives to violent extremism. The Cycle Of Violence In real life, it rarely, if ever, works this way. We take one iconic strike to mark the end of a conflict, and then assume that nothing afterwards has anything to do with it. Take for example the recent shooting incident occurring in a high school in Florida. Almost all of our fiction books, movies teaches us this. But what about situations that seem to call for violence in the short term? As well as taking collective action to stop the war in Lebanon and Gaza, key players like the "quartet" - the UN, the United States, the European Union, and Russia - must develop a comprehensive security framework for the Middle East. Or maybe, threatening to shoot a child, -not a life-threatening shot, mind you- may result in them handing in papers on time, or think twice before responding disrespectfully to their teacher. The response to Hizbullah's initial aggression, as well as Israel's military response in Gaza, was disproportionate. Well, to be that powerful you have to be big. Well, let me put it like this: What I know for sure is: Violence is not a solution

If this effort is successful, the international community must cooperate fully and swiftly with the Palestinian Authority. Violence is made righteous by our military. I hope you take my thoughts and research into consideration because these are big issues happening in the United States. I would think the answer is no. Sophie Z. We take one iconic strike to mark the end of a conflict, and then assume that nothing afterwards has anything to do with it. The Cycle Of Violence In real life, it rarely, if ever, works this way. What I know for sure is: Let us think about that for a minute. The terminal topic I would like to talk about today is terrorism, which I feel is the biggest issue in the U. That is just ridiculous and it needs to be taken care of at once. So really, no matter how far you go in attempting to crush your enemies, you will always have more of them to deal with. If we could agree to do this as a species, then we could live without the military, as Costa Rica does. Tearfully the parents of Johnson shared how the military changed him. Imagine if that child were to become a teacher. My dream is that as a species, human beings would agree NOT to use violence to solve our problems. If we decide someone is our enemy and attack them, whether verbally or physically, usually all we get is a backlash. Nonetheless, there can be a diplomatic process with rights and obligations. I have a dream. Either way, you will receive much more violence than you ever would have done if you had remained peaceful. To the extent that you choose to use violence against others as a tool, you will attract violence against you. Imagine for a minute someone saying this today. Military solutions are not viable; war strengthens the hand of those who regard terror as the only effective weapon, thus creating a breeding ground for more violence, insecurity, and extremism across the Middle East. Almost all of our fiction books, movies teaches us this. We have consistently condemned attacks that target innocent Israelis. This spills over into our social fabric as soldiers return shaped by violence and suffering from PTSD. This helped form my ideas on violence, as the pattern thus became very clear for me. It teaches our youth that killing is commendable. I bet many other people in the United States would be compelled to share this information as well with the next president.

We have sought to satisfy our IDs, we have started the ball rolling with an upcoming generation of poorly developed superegos that think it is ok that violence begets violence. Innovative and bold diplomatic initiatives for peace must be launched as an alternative to the logic of military force. The Cycle Of Violence In real life, it rarely, if ever, works this way. What then? Both the PLO and Israeli militant groups active at the time of Israel's creation moved away from violence once the international community engaged them. If Freud, is to be believed, it is safe to say that the person behind these mass shootings are satisfying their ID. Our society has swallowed the bloody belief that violence solves problems. I would say that echoes of the violence of the World Wars are still found nowadays. The terminal topic I would like to talk about today is terrorism, which I feel is the biggest issue in the U. It was to be another 8 years after that before the USA pulled troops out of Iraq, and violence in the area continues. Or maybe, threatening to shoot a child, -not a life-threatening shot, mind you- may result in them handing in papers on time, or think twice before responding disrespectfully to their teacher. Now the international community must build on these successes, guided in their actions by a common conviction that violence is never a viable solution. Almost all of our fiction books, movies teaches us this. It flavors our national identity. This has happened before. Thank you! Permalink Reply by Kathy Summers on 4th mo. February 28, at 8: If I use violence against someone, the intensity of my own energy will invite an intense reaction. If we hope to halt violent extremism, we must engage religious and militant groups in dialogue and address the root causes of violence. Imagine for a minute someone saying this today. If we could agree to do this as a species, then we could live without the military, as Costa Rica does. Imagine teachers facing constantly delinquent children, disrupting their classrooms, who knows, a shot in the air may finally get the class to quiet down and everyone to focus.

I hear stories way too much on the news about terrorists attacking different places and it needs to be stopped. I hope you take my thoughts and research into consideration because these are big issues happening in the United States. Once the things you love are threatened with destruction, it's a different story. Have we forgotten that terrorist recruitment becomes easier when we are recklessly violent? I hope you consider my thoughts on this topic, because I feel they should be taken seriously and they also should be your top priority once you become president. It flavors our national identity. Can we not see how arming persons in already highly stressful situations could increase not decrease violence? We, the authors of this article, as well as the organisation we represent, the Socialist International, have always defended Israel's right to exist and defend itself. First, I would like to discuss the topic of crime, which is a very serious topic. Then we could divert the funds we now spend on the military to feed, clothe, house, educate, and provide health care to every human being one the planet. Our society has swallowed the bloody belief that violence solves problems. Now, imagine if we had teachers with similar dispositions, and we handed them guns, can we honestly say we see a solution to our children being now safe? That is just ridiculous and it needs to be taken care of at once. And the cycle continues. Violence is not a solution

Many people look outside into the world and wonder what it will be like without violence. Violence is popular politics. I do not see how the solution to end violence is to combat it with more violence. I hear stories way too much on the news about terrorists attacking different places and it needs to be stopped. Both served in the military. If the international community is to remain credible, a regional initiative for collective security - a Madrid II - needs to be taken. The next topic I would like to talk about is Gun violence which is happening all over the world, and not just the U. Our military promises that violence will solve problems. The alternative is a fast-escalating spiral into hell. For their part, radicalised groups must renounce violence and accept international principles and laws. Maybe you will. To secure lasting peace, the key is to develop political mechanisms that allow space for moderation and democracy. Tearfully the parents of Johnson shared how the military changed him. Once the things you love are threatened with destruction, it's a different story. I think that it's only by stepping outside of our limited, rationalistic human notions of "the most good for the most people" can we truly commit to forswear violence. It flavors our national identity. In turn, this is how it happens in movies. I bet many other people in the United States would be compelled to share this information as well with the next president. It has to start somewhere, and I think our homes can be the best place to start the revolution. This self directed violence easily transforms into a backlash of other violence, such as the Neonazis which this country has to deal with. What then? The next president needs to have stronger protection and more rules and regulations about carrying around a gun. So really, no matter how far you go in attempting to crush your enemies, you will always have more of them to deal with. For me, I am worried to go out in public because I am afraid someone will attack me. Have we forgotten that terrorist recruitment becomes easier when we are recklessly violent?

Many veterans are able to close the chapter on killing and return to society. To secure lasting peace, the key is to develop political mechanisms that allow space for moderation and democracy. Many others live with moral injury. Twenty-two or more veterans a day commit suicide. Both served in the military. The next topic I would like to talk about is Gun violence which is happening all over the world, and not just the U. If you remain very alert, very silent, you can feel or perceive the best course of action, and perhaps more importantly, you can prevent your energy from going into the violence feedback loop. Israel claims its actions in Gaza and Lebanon were designed to safeguard its own security. The alternative is a fast-escalating spiral into hell. That violence will find its way out again. Today's incoherent, piecemeal strategies will not break the cycle of violence. But indiscriminate use of force and continued occupation will never give Israel lasting security. This is where the cycle ends up. That violence will find its way out again. In My Own Life I want to tackle these issues on a more personal level now. Kathy Permalink Reply by Lola Georg on 4th mo. Both the PLO and Israeli militant groups active at the time of Israel's creation moved away from violence once the international community engaged them. 1. We have sought to satisfy our IDs, we have started the ball rolling with an upcoming generation of poorly developed superegos that think it is ok that violence begets violence. But I believe that in the long term, so long as you have the power to transform your life and most people do , you can achieve this sort of positive environment.
